The Eagle Ridge boys soccer team soared into the second round of the MAC Conference playoffs after defeating Liberty Christian Academy 4-1 on Monday night.
Led by two-goal performances from Caleb Margrabe and Chase Williams, the Eagles offense was firing on all cylinders. Margrabe netted a goal in each half, while Williams scored back-to-back unassisted goals to extend the lead in the second period.
The defense also shined bright, allowing just one goal. Senior goalkeeper Dustin Corzine had his best game of the season, making several spectacular diving saves to deny Liberty.
“This was one of our most complete games all year,” said assistant coach Evan Craft “I’m really proud of the effort from the whole team.”
The playoff victory advances them to the 2nd round of their conference tournament. Eagle Ridge is now preparing to face off against a tough Westwood Baptist squad in the second round. But with momentum on their side after an emphatic win, don’t count the Eagles out as they continue their postseason journey.
