“Eagles Soccer Team Splits Games, Ready to Soar Against Ozark Christian Next Week.”

The Eagle Ridge boys soccer team experienced the highs and lows of competition this past week, notching a thrilling 8-2 blowout over Kennett but falling 4-1 to a tough St. Paul squad.

In the win against Kennett, scoring was shared among a handful of players as they lit up the scoreboard with 8 goals to lead the Eagles’ offensive explosion. The entire team was clicking, with crisp passes setting up quality shot after quality shot. “We came out aggressive and it paid off,” said Assistant Coach Evin Craft.

The script flipped against St. Paul, with the Eagles struggling to find their rhythm, especially in the second half. Despite the loss, head coach Heath Stengler focused on the positives. “We battled hard against an excellent team. Our effort was there.”

The Eagles had quality looks at shots on goal but things just were not falling in the teams’ favor. The overall “shots on goal” were almost even between both teams but St. Paul was able to bury the ball in the net a few more times.

Now 2-3 on the season, the Eagles turn their sights to next Monday’s contest against Ozark Christian. Having had time to review game film and recover and rest over the weekend, the team is hungry to get back in the win column looking to be .500 on the season.

“Ozark Christian is beatable if we play to our potential,” said Stengler. “I know the guys aren’t hanging their heads. We’re eager to show what we can do.”
